Paris 2024: Super Falcons to Test Readiness with Friendly Against Canada

As part of their preparations for the 2024 Olympic Games, Nigeria’s Super Falcons will face off against the reigning Olympic champions, Canada, in a friendly match. This match is scheduled to take place in Sevilla, Spain, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

The Super Falcons have chosen Sevilla as their base for their Olympic preparations. The choice of location is strategic, providing the team with an excellent environment to fine-tune their strategies and build team cohesion ahead of the games.

Nigeria and Canada previously met during the group stage of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where the match ended in a 0-0 draw. This friendly will be an opportunity for both teams to gauge their progress and readiness for the Olympics.

Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, has unveiled his 18-player squad for the Olympics. The selection reflects a blend of experience and young talent, aiming to compete strongly on the global stage.

The Super Falcons are drawn in Group A alongside some of the toughest teams in the world: world champions Spain, Japan, and Brazil. The competition will be fierce, and the friendly against Canada will provide a critical test for the team’s strategies and formations.
