“Double Wahala” As Fake Army Captains Beat up State Police Officer

It’s no longer new to the Nigerian force when civilians are caught parading on military uniforms and causing havoc to other citizens who are unaware they are fake and impersonating the force.

According to report, two men Abdullahi Kabiru, 28, and Obare Tunde, 39 were caught in army uniforms after they assaulted a police officer, Lawrence Awoniyi in Ekiti State. The two suspect who claimed to be army officers, were with the ranks of captain on their uniforms.

According to the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr Asuquo Amba, said the suspects assaulted the police officer as they felt threatened when they saw him approaching towards them. They identified themselves as captains of the Nigerian Army attached to the 44 Battalion in Niger State. The police who was assaulted called for backup which led to their arrest of the self-acclaimed army officers.

“The police constable called for reinforcement, which led to the arrest of the two suspects. During interrogation by the SARS operatives, the two suspects confessed to being fake soldiers and claimed that the army uniform belongs to one of their brother.”
