It’s not our duty to expose the sponsors of Boko Haram insurgents- Nigerian Army

When we talk about the North, it’s very difficult to forget the role, pain and harm Boko Haram insurgents have caused to many lives and family.

The Nigerian Army has said it’s not in its power or responsibility to expose the sponsors of Boko Haram insurgents. According to the Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche said, the Army has full knowledge that some groups are being sponsored to cause havoc but it’s not their responsibility to expose them when finally caught.

Enenche who made this known in a press briefing earlier today, told newsmen that, it is the responsibility of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Service (DSS) to find and disclose the identities of those sponsoring the terrorist groups.

“The kind of weapon these terrorists use is too sophisticated and expensive. How much are they stealing to acquire such arms? They are sponsored and heavily funded. Our duty is to remain in the frontline and defeat terrorism and not to expose the names of their sponsors. That is the duty of DSS and NIA.” Enenche said.

Since the war against Boko Haram, no sponsor or group have been caught and exposed for their involvement in the growth of the insurgents. Do you think the sponsors of these insurgents can be caught? Or they are protected by the high and mighty?
