Following the expiration of the 5-year tenure of Prof. Mahmood Yakubu as the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Federal Government has appointed Air Vice-Marshal Ahmed Muazu (retd) as it’s acting chairman.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on October 27 reappointed Prof. Yakubu for a second term of five years. Although his reappointment was subject to confirmation by the Senate.
However on Monday, November 8, Yakubu handed over to Air Vice-Marshal Ahmed Muazu (retd) to take over the affairs of the electoral commission.
