Comedian AY’s Public Apology to Davido Explained.

Comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has publicly apologized to the award-winning singer and performer, Davido, for a joke he made about women getting pregnant for the singer during a public event in Warri.

On Sunday, October 8, 2023, AY, the renowned comedian and actor, issued a formal apology on his social media platform to Davido following his recent humoristic comment about women allegedly getting pregnant for the singer during a show in Warri.

AY had delivered a jest when introduced as a guest artist at an event in Warri, Delta State. In reference to Davido’s viral hit song “Unavailable,” he quipped that if the singer was unavailable and yet women were getting pregnant in such numbers, one could only imagine the situation if Davido were actually present.

This humorous comment came in the wake of allegations earlier in the year, where various women had claimed on social media that they were impregnated by Davido while he was married to his wife, Chioma.

In his apology, AY acknowledged that the joke was inappropriate and expressed his regret to Davido, emphasizing that no harm was intended. His social media post read;

 “I am so sorry for telling that joke the way it came out in Warri. I shouldn’t even call it a joke anymore. It wasn’t funny like it was during my tour of US and Canada, and you have every right to be angry after seeing how the blogs used it. Please know that it is always a learning experience for all of us in the entertainment business. I deserve any backlash or negative thoughts coming my way for the joke that was badly delivered in Warri. So, no excuses at all, my Aburo. No reason am. I remain your number one fan, and I love you, @davido.”

Davido responded directly to the apology, stating, “Nothing spoil baba mi.”
