Skepta Shuts Down Inaugural Big Smoke Festival With Energetic Performance

Saturday, July 6th, 2024, Skepta brought the house down at the inaugural Big Smoke Festival in Crystal Palace Park, capping off a day filled with performances from notable artistes such as The Streets, YG Marley, and Jme.

Despite the unseasonal rain, the festival saw a massive turnout, with fans flocking from all over London to witness the historic event.

The festival, which Skepta curated himself, featured two stages: the Big Smoke stage and the Más Tiempo stage. The event saw a mix of amapiano, house, baile funk, afrobeats, grime, and drill music.

The crowd’s energy was electric throughout the day, with notable moments including YG Marley’s tribute to his grandfather Bob Marley’s legacy and YG Marley’s performance of his viral track “Praise Jah In The Moonlight.” England’s win during the Euros quarter-final match against Switzerland, screened on the Big Smoke stage, added to the excitement.

Skepta’s headlining performance, his only UK live show of 2024, brought the festival to a close.

The rapper expressed his gratitude to the audience for their unwavering support and promised that this was only the beginning of the Big Smoke Festival.
