The whole world has been crippled by the current covid-19 pandemic, which has affected so many creatives, including professionals in the music industry. Deeply affecting their source of livelihood.
Right now every musician (both upcoming and working) are pretty much affected by it, as lots of music concerts, tours, shows, and even studio recordings have been put on hold by the pandemic. This has led to financial losses for every artist and the entertainment industry at large.
However, with everyone sitting at home, it is important as an artist to spend time thinking about your larger vision and working towards longer term goals. One way this can be done is by constantly gaining new fans and keeping your current fans engaged.
It is important to use this time to grow as an artist, improve your music, and grow your fanbase.
Today, I will be sharing with you a few ways you can stay connected with your fans and keep them engaged, during the lockdown.
HERE ARE A FEW WAYS TO KEEP YOUR FANS ENGAGED DURING THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN.
1. CREATE ENGAGING SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENTS
One way to keep people engaged during this lockdown is by creating engaging contents on social media. You can create short videos and you can engage your fans by asking how they feel about tour contents, then ask them to share your contents, so it can get a wider reach too.
2. ORGANISE GIVEAWAYS AND COMPETITIONS.
It’s alright to be generous at a time like this, especially in Nigeria where most people feed on a daily wage. You could be nice enough to ask your fans what they need and possibly help them out in either cash or kind, to make sure this needs are met. This can go a long way to cementing your relationship with your fans and gaining a new fan-base too. However do this if it is within your means. But it’s still not bad if you can go the extra mile with your generosity.
You can also set up a giveaway for free tickets to your next show after the lockdown. Post a picture telling fans about the show and the details. Then have them like, comment and share their thoughts on the show.
Set up competitions and challenges on Instagram, thatare not difficult to accomplish but fun to do and watch. You too can go ahead and partake in the challenge. Take a moment and answer all of the comments. This will give the fans a real feeling of connection with you.
3. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON TRENDING ISSUES.
Your can keep your fans engaged by sharing your opinions on trending topics. Sharing your thoughts on what you believe in may also deepen your connections with fans that have similar point of view. Ensure you are well abreast of the issue before airing your view, so you don’t look dumb.
4. YOU CAN RELEASE A NEW MUSIC
Of course you can keep making and releasing new music. You can take a cue from M.I Abaga and A-Q, by collaborating with other artists and release a new music.
By doing this you can engage your fans, by encouraging covers and remixes too. One way to nurture your musical connection with your fans is to produce more music they love.
On a final note, it’s needed that you take an advantage of this time s an artiste. Engage your current fans, grow as an artist, improve your music, and grow your fanbase.
