Several Nigerian artistes have stood out tall over the years and are really doing very in their craft. They have been able to prove over time that they are in the game for real business and ready to take their place in the music space.

However there are quite a few who are not really doing very well despite the luxury of having a good record deal, an excellent management team and the right tools needed for their growth. I feel the inability for most of these artiste to stay relevant in the game might be their lack of consistency and creativity.

1. DAVO LEE

One artiste that has dwindled after coming to lime light is former YBNL Rapper, Davo Lee. Davo Lee got signed into YBNL in the year 2016, and made waves with his ‘Pepper Dem Gang” with Olamide in 2017. In recent interviews the artiste claims that he never signed a contract with YBNL and no support from the label.

2. DIJA

Ex mavin records signee, Dija was on the lips of all music lovers after she dropped her chart topping song “Awww” which was produced by Don jazzy. Dija blew up immediately she released the song and all eyes were on her but unfortunately she faded away quickly from the music scene to start her own family by getting married. Her song struggled to make it to her fans playlists even after a collaboration with Patoranking but it didn’t work.

3. TEMI OVWASA (YBNL PRINCESS)

YBNL Princess, Temi Ovwasa, is one artiste whose decline wasn’t expected, Temi faded the moment she came to limelight. Temi got signed as the first YBNL female artiste in 2016, and her acceptance by the entire YBNL fan base and other music lovers was so spontaneous that she was already a superstar even before she released her debut single, “Jabole” in May 2016.

Temi dropped her second single ‘Afefe’ in October 2016, and since no major hit has been released by the YBNL Princess. A sudden decline remains a mystery to many.

4. IDOWEST

Idowest is one artiste that fell below expectations after he popped into the music industry. The DMW rapper is known for his indigenous style of rapping, but it seems he isn’t putting the resources around him into proper use. After coming into limelight in 2018, Idowest hasn’t dropped any major hit going forward.

5. STARBOY TERRI

Starboy records signee, Terri is a highly talented act which has been compared to his boss “Wizkid” because of his similar voice with Wizzy. He featured on one of the biggest songs in Africa “Soco” but his career got little push even after the collaboration in 2018. His verse was no doubt the best on the song which made people love him the more. Terri his good no doubt, and he puts out really good contents. But I feel he needs to be consistent and put in more work to stay relevant.
