Kayode Fayemi, the executive governor of Ekiti state, has signed into law a bill against sexual abuse and violence against children.
Governor Fayemi lamented the rising cases of sexual abuse in the state and said there was a need for legal reviews to prioritize the interest and welfare of victims.
The Governor, called for a more effective prosecution of sex offenders, stressing the need for a national consensus on rape.
With the New Sexual Violence Against Children Law signed by the governor, a child victim of sexual abuse or violence will have rapid access to relevant medical facility for emergency care and infection treatment.
