Thomas Moore, also known as Captain Tom, is a former British Army officer who served in India and the Burma campaign during the Second World War (WWII). He later became an instructor in armored warfare. Moore was born 30 April 1920 and will be 100-year-old in few hours.
Moore became one of Britain’s most beloved residents earlier this month when he raised millions for the nation’s healthcare workers. Moore has received over 125,000 birthday cards from fans, according to BBC News. Moore who vowed he was going to walk 100 laps of his garden in time for his 100th birthday as he hoped to generate funds through his walk as he pledges all funds received to the National Health Service (NHS). According to reports, Moore has received over £29 million from all donations made so far.
As he celebrates his birthday in hours, fans and well wishers around the world have done the unthinkable as a massive influx of cards has filled a school’s hall which his grandson requested for due to the number of cards received.
