Bundesliga Officially Returns On May 16.

The German Football League (DFL) have confirmed that the season will restart on May 16, becoming the first European league to resume amid the coronavirus epidemic.

While France and the Netherlands both opted to end their respective campaigns – with all French sport banned until September – German chancellor Angela Merkel announced an easing of lockdown restrictions on Wednesday.

The German Football League (DFL) said the season would resume under the terms of a strict health protocol that ensures matches will played in empty stadiums.

Bayern Munich currently sit top of the table four points ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who resume their campaign next Saturday with a derby against Schalke.
