Lagos State Vs Rivers State: Two Governments With Different Policies And Actions

Two facilities in the Badagry West Local Council Development Area of Lagos State have been shut down for violating and contravening guidelines issued by the government to operators of hotels, clubs, and other entertaining outlets in the state.

Due to the recent pandemic, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike issued a total lockdown in the State and also warned hotel owners to avoid any form of operation or get their hotel demolished. This total lockdown was done in two major local government areas of the State (Port Harcourt Local Government Area and Obio-Akpor Local Government Area).

Just few days ago, the Rivers State government demolished two hotels for flouting the executive order whereas the Lagos State Government sealed two hotels for also flouting its own executive order. Two different governments, different policies, and different acts of justice.

Nigerians have gone on various social media page to air their thoughts as some feel the Lagos state government did a better job compared to the Rivers state government.

Remember, the Rivers state governor is a lawyer so as his wife, so they should be aware of the law when it comes to human rights.
