“Squeeze Old Generation Out of Power” – Obasanjo advises youths

As a youth who love politics, the major struggle is, ‘when will our leaders give youths the opportunity?’ most of the current leaders who are in power or, having plans to rule are individuals we once read or were taught on Current Affairs or Civic Education. When will the youths giving the opportunity to show the can rule?

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has asked African youths to dislodge older generation from leadership positions as he advised youths to participate actively in all areas of politics.

In a statement that was held to mark International Youth’s Day, was organized by the Youth Development Center, an arm Obasanjo presidential library at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Obasanjo said, “Unless you squeeze out those who are in power and those who want to remain in office perpetually, some after the age of 80, unless you squeeze them out, they will not want to be out.”

Nigeria leaders when out of office, tend to give the best ideas and always have something to say to push the country forward, but will they do what the preach if given the second opportunity?
