Most areas in Rivers State have been experiencing power outage and one may wonder if the days of ‘Black out’, has finally come, but the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution plc, (PHED) has notified citizens of the reason of the power outage.
In a tweet that was reported by the official handle of the PHED, the commission made it known that the youths of the community are responsible for the power outage as they barricaded the transmission station.
According to John Onyi, the Manager, Corporate Communications PHED, said that the youth also carried out the same act last month, which culminated to total darkness in the city. “Everyone knows that electricity is not free anywhere in the world. PHED therefore, seeks the intervention of the opinion leaders and security agencies to prevail on the youth to vacate the place to enable PHED distribute power to its esteemed customers.”
