Actor Charles Inojie Opens Up About Childhood Struggles and Reunion with Mother.

Renowned Nollywood actor and director, Charles Inojie, recently shared a poignant chapter of his life, revealing that he was abandoned by his mother as a baby. In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Inojie disclosed the challenges he faced, including being raised by his grandmother and residing with his father for only eight months.

According to the actor, the turning point occurred when his father’s mistress presented him with an ultimatum: choose between his son and her. Heartbreakingly, his father chose the latter, leading to Inojie’s eviction from his home.

Recalling the moment he finally met his mother, Inojie expressed a sense of emotional detachment, having endured various hardships on the streets. He narrated an encounter with an uncle who, in the presence of a woman, revealed that she was his mother. Despite the revelation, Inojie chose not to display expected emotions, explaining, “I’ve seen a lot, so nothing moved me anymore.”

The actor emphasized that his grandmother played a significant role in his upbringing, stating, “The marriage between my father and mother ended when I was still a baby. It was my grandmother who breastfed me.”

Inojie further shared that his mother passed away at the age of 58, leaving behind 16 children. Upon graduating from university, he returned to his father, who, overwhelmed by shame for abandoning him, shed tears for more than 30 minutes.
