Burna Boy Considers Legal Action Against Nigerian Media Outlets

African sensation Burna Boy has escalated his warnings to Nigerian online bloggers, this time with the serious threat of legal action.

On November 3, 2023, Burna Boy took to his social media platform to urge media outlets such as Pulse NG and Instablog, among others, to convene and discuss how much he could pay to prevent them from featuring him in their future publications.

Fast forward to November 15, 2023, Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy announced his contemplation of employing 100 lawyers to pursue defamation suits against Nigerian bloggers. This decision is a follow-up to his earlier pledge to offer them financial incentives to refrain from publishing content about him.

Acknowledging their livelihood concerns, Burna Boy stated that he understands the bloggers’ actions are driven by the need to make a living.

On his social media platform, he remarked, “Dat money wey I wan give dem instablog dat time, e be like say na to give like 100 lawyers now, But I know say na hustle everybody dey hustle so e go pain me if I run dat kind tin. Why una dey push me an?”.

Widely known as the Odogwu, Burna Boy has clinched four Grammy nominations spanning diverse categories, including Best African Music Performance, Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Global Music Album, and Best Global Music Performance.
