‘Needed An Assist’ – Kevin De Bruyne clears the air on writing a song for Drake.

Belgium and Manchester City midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, has put an end to speculations surrounding his alleged involvement in writing a song for Drake from the rapper’s latest release.

Rumors circulated about De Bruyne’s unexpected collaboration with Drake on the song “Wick Man,” prompting the footballer to address the situation through a social media post on Friday, November 17, 2023. Fans, quick to celebrate the versatile athlete, humorously questioned if there was anything the Treble winner couldn’t do.

In a playful response, the 32-year-old quipped that Drake “needed an assist,” accompanied by a photo of the two together. However, De Bruyne returned to social media to clarify that he was not part of the song’s creation, dismissing the rumors in a subsequent post.

The lighthearted exchange caught the attention of De Bruyne’s Manchester City teammate, Erling Haaland, who acknowledged De Bruyne’s absence from the squad due to injury. Haaland commented on Instagram, humorously stating, “he is not alone.” De Bruyne, recognized for his prolific assists on the pitch, notably provided eight assists to Haaland in the previous Premier League season before sustaining a hamstring injury after the first game of the current campaign.
