Pep Guardiola Shares the Reason Behind Cole Palmer’s Departure from Manchester City

In a recent revelation, Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, has shed light on why Cole Palmer opted to make the switch to Chelsea Football Club during the summer transfer window of 2023.

The England U-21 international completed his move to the Blues for £40 million on the final day of the transfer window, and Guardiola, addressing the media in a pre-match press conference against Chelsea, clarified that the primary factor influencing Palmer’s decision was a desire for more playing time.

Guardiola recounted a conversation with Palmer, stating, “After one or two years, he told me, ‘I don’t want to play here.’ I said, ‘Mahrez is leaving, you have a chance.’ He told me, ‘No, I want to leave.’ I said, ‘Okay, leave. It’s good for him. Good guy, really. Wish him all the best.'”

Since joining Chelsea, Palmer has played a significant role in the team’s success this season, even shouldering the responsibility of taking penalties for the club.
