Forget Rema and Fireboy DML, “Joeboy” is Nigeria’s biggest young talent

Afrobeat has been blessed with new buzzing talents as Mavin Records and YBNL unveiled these young talents Rema and Fireboy DML respectively to spearhead the leadership of the Nigerians music for the younger generation. Rema boy who recorded six songs out of eight topping the Nigerians iTunes top 10 chart, recently bagged nominations alongside Fireboy DML at the newly released list of the nominees for AFRIMMA 2019.

Amidst the hype surrounding the successes of these two acts Rema and Fireboy is Joeboy a talented youngster who has proven himself even with a not-too-famous record label. Joeboy broke Rema Boy’s record of having two of records in ITunes Top 10 songs Nigeria. While Rema Boys “Dumebi” and “Iron Man” where all from his REMA EP, Joeboys “Beginning” and Baby Girl” are mere singles and they currently sit at numbers 3 and 4.

The Banku Music lead act Joeboy, with over a million streams across all streaming platforms was recently used by Deezer as the face of their “Nigeria’s Hottest Track Playlist”.

These further shows how farther his music has travelled and the value placed on this youngster. Joeboy might not be getting all the credits he deserves at the moment unlike Rema and Fireboy but the youngster is definitely creating his own path and breaking records on the low. Joeboy recently earned nominations for AFRIMMA 2019 on the category “Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Pop”.

If anyone amongst Fireboy, Rema and Joeboy is underrated, that’ll definitely be Joeboy. The fast rising act won’t be much of a surprise if nominated in Headies Awards Rookie of the year as he has repeatedly shown the melodious and addictive nature of his sound.
