Governor Makinde was Negative after 6 days of Covid 19

Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, last Sunday night, announced he has tested negative for coronavirus (COVID-19) just few days after announcing he tested positive for the virus.

In a tweet he posted on his personal Twitter handle @seyiamakinde, he said: “I am deeply moved by your prayers and support throughout this period. I am so thankful. This evening, I received my second negative test result for COVID-19.

I especially thank Prof Temitope Alonge, who acted in my stead as Head of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force.”

Oyo State Governor was one of the governors who attended the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, some weeks ago, where he met with other governors. The Nigerian Governor’s Forum (NGF) had, after the meeting, advised its members who attended the Abuja meeting to go into self- isolation or undergo COVID-19 test.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, stated that Makinde’s test result was delivered to the governor at about 5:30pm last Monday. The news of Oyo governor’s positive status came on the heels of the release of the State’s index case from the COVID-19 isolation centre at the Agbami Chest Hospital, Ibadan, where he was treated, having fully recovered from the viral disease.
