Man Arrested For Impersonating The Widow of Late Abba Kyari To Defraud Prominent Nigerians

It’s no news when scammers try to defraud innocent Nigerians, using the identity of prominent individuals in the society. This will come as a shock as a 58-year-old Mallam Aminu Ado, has been arrested for impersonating the widow of the late Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.

How can you try to add more pain to a family who is yet to recover from the tragic end of their love one? Ado, according to reports, has already made contact with the Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong; the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; and the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed to solicit for assistance and to organize a prayer for the departed soul.

According to the Spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Frank Mba, said Ado used a special voice effect application on his mobile device to change his voice to sound like that of a woman (to impersonate the widow) to be able to carry out his evil plans. He was caught when the prominent men he contacted sensed a foul play.

“In the course of doing that, some of the prominent Nigerians became suspicious and reached out to us. He has been cooperative with the investigation and held back no facts.” DCP Mba said.

Ado who claimed to be a family friend said, he did it without the knowledge of the family and that he knew the politicians very well.
