Why Super Eagles Couldn’t Win Against Zimbabwe: Coach Peseiro Explains.

Many Nigerians felt let down when the Super Eagles of Nigeria couldn’t secure a victory in their first two 2026 World Cup qualifying matches. They drew against Lesotho at home and also drew in the away game against Zimbabwe. Jose Peseiro, the head coach of the Super Eagles, shared why they couldn’t beat Zimbabwe.

Peseiro explained that the players didn’t get enough rest after returning from Nigeria.

“The journey from Nigeria was tough with many hours of flight. The players didn’t rest enough to play at their best.”

He added,

“The first half was very bad, but the second half was much better.”

The goals in the game were scored by Walter Musona and Kelechi Iheanacho at Huye Stadium in Rwanda on Sunday, November 19, 2023.
