JUST IN: FG Declares May 1 Public holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, May 1, 2020, a public holiday.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Georgina Ehuriah,  The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, revealed that public holiday will be observed on May 1 to mark this year’s International Workers’ Day Celebration.

Aregbesola also thanked Nigerian workers “for their resilience, patience and understanding, particularly in their support at stemming the spread of COVID-19”.

He applauded the sacrifices made by Nigerians and the labour force during this trial period.

He said, “With the cooperation of every citizen, as well as strict adherence to the measures being put in place by relevant authorities, the challenges being faced by Nigerians as a result of the disease, would soon be put behind.”
